The other day, I was taking my daughter to the airport. And like most people, we were doing our best to make sure we had what we needed so we wouldn’t be late.  Now, I’m not one of those people who can just give you directions off the top of my head. I have to get there and see everything, and then I know what to do next. Well, we were taking a different route to the airport and came upon an exit. I wasn’t exactly sure if that was the right exit or not, and I drove right by it. My daughter, Alexandra, pulled out her phone and asked Siri. Sure enough, she gave us a new route from where we were, and we got to the airport in time.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I have missed my flight before. It’s a real hassle. And sometimes in life, you can be plugging away, doing your best and miss your flight, so to speak.

Or like me when I got to that exit I wasn’t sure about, you can hit a place in life where you have to make a decision and you’re not sure what to do. You wonder,

“Do I take this job or wait for another opportunity?”

“Do I go to this college or do I go to another college?”

Sometimes we make decisions and don’t realize until we get down the road that we might be better off if we had taken a different route.

You may find yourself in a situation today where you say, “I took the wrong exit in life. I missed my flight, and now I’m in a situation I don’t like.”

Let me encourage you today

Your situation is not your final destination. At some point in our lives, every one of us has missed out on God-given opportunities. Don’t live in regret. Don’t let lost opportunities make you feel disappointed and discouraged. God is bigger than your lost opportunities.

No matter what has happened in your past, He can still get your life back on track!

The key is to focus on where you are going. In the natural, when we are navigating, we can’t look back at the exit we missed. We have to look forward to the new exit that is going to get us where we need to go!

Spiritually, you have to focus on where God is taking you! Yes, it’s possible to make a wrong turn.

We all make mistakes, but that doesn’t mean you won’t reach your final destination.

I love what the apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:13: “One thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead…” He was saying, we must turn our thoughts toward the future and keep looking for the new opportunities. God is a restorer, and He loves to restore opportunities. It may not always happen the way you think, but keep your heart open to Him.

When you miss your route, focus on the reroute! Let God get you back on track toward the amazing destiny He has prepared for you!
